Liner Notes

There are so many who have turned away from God, Christianity and the church because of individuals who misrepresented God. This song is a plea to not turn away from God because of the actions and words of individuals who did not represent God the right way. This song acknowledges the wrongs and hurts caused by individuals who are supposed to be christians and represent Jesus, but for whatever reason, haven't or don't. This song encourages persons to make Jesus the standard not broken, fallen people.

Lyrics

Verse 1 Some people talked about Jesus In a way that didn’t show who He really is. They used His name the wrong way, And it made you question everything. But their mistakes don’t change the truth— Jesus is better than what you were shown. He’s nothing like the people Who tried to use His name for their own gain. Pre‑Chorus (Before you walk away,) Before you give up on Him, (Please hear this—) Chorus (Don’t reject Jesus) Just because someone misrepresented Him. (Don’t turn from love) Just because someone failed to live it. (Don’t let the wrong picture) Make you miss the real Savior. (Don’t reject Jesus—) (He isn’t anything like the people who got Him wrong.) Verse 2 I know you’ve seen Christians act In ways that (didn’t look like Christ at all.) I know you’ve heard words spoken That didn’t match the heart of God. (But Jesus isn’t the hurt you felt.) (He isn’t the judgment you faced.) He’s the One who heals, The One who listens, (The One who knows your pain.) Pre‑Chorus (Before you close your heart,) (Before you say “I’m done”…) Just remember— [synth solo] Chorus (Don’t reject Jesus) Just because someone misrepresented Him. (Don’t turn from love) Just because someone failed to live it. (Don’t let the wrong picture) Make you miss the real Savior. (Don’t reject Jesus—) (He isn’t anything like the people who got Him wrong.) Bridge (Jesus isn’t the hate you saw.) (He isn’t the silence you felt.) (He isn’t the people who hurt you.) (He’s the God who came to love you.) (Look at Him for yourself—) You’ll see He’s nothing like they made Him seem Final Chorus Don’t reject Jesus (Just because someone misrepresented Him.) Don’t walk away (Before you meet the real Him.) His arms are open, (His heart is for you—) (Don’t reject Jesus…) (He’s not the one who hurt you.)
